What is this event?
This is your opportunity to meet one-on-one with an expert (and Digital Studies alum!) in the field you’d like to work in and to ask them questions about their job, what they do day-to-day, how they got into the field, and get advice about what you can do to land a job in the field. All experts for this event will be participating via Skype.
How does it work?
Sign up for a 20 minute slot with the expert of your choice. There are three different dates with different experts participating – be sure to check the dates before signing up to ensure you are available to attend. Canceling at the last minute (except for unusual circumstances) or not showing up is unacceptable. The experts participating are giving up their time to assist UW-Madison students and by signing up, you are taking a potential time slot away from another student.
Arrive at 2252A College Library at least five minutes before your scheduled interview time to check in. Bring a set of headphones with you as the interview will be via Skype. Dress is business casual (this is a professional networking opportunity, after all, even if it is via Skype!). Bring your questions and think about how to get the most out your 20 minute conversation. Check out this article to get sample questions and ideas on how to get the most out of your conversation.
