What does a typical day in the office look like for you?
As an Art Director, I work in both the digital and physical design spaces, creating everything from e-blasts to billboards to Facebook canvas ads to bus wraps. Every couple of months, we’ll have a photoshoot or video shoot for a client, and under the supervision of the Creative Director, I’m able to share my vision and call the shots so the photographer or videographer can best capture that vision.
How did you end up at Laughlin Constable?
I had many internships throughout college, four of which were at advertising and PR agencies. Each one was a stepping stone to where I am today, helping me finesse my skills and learn what I wanted to do and where I wanted to do it. I started at Laughlin Constable after graduating in 2016. I was recently nominated for the company’s coveted Employee of the Year award. Even though I didn’t win, it was a huge honor and extremely humbling to have been considered as a top qualifier. I’m grateful to work for a company that honors its employees and recognizes the dedication and hard work that so many give.
How has Digital Studies influenced your career path?
The classes I took through the Digital Studies Certificate helped me bridge the gap between graphic design and advertising. I was able to get a breadth of knowledge about advertising and digital communications and pair that will my design knowledge.
Do you have any advice for current students?
Network as much as possible! As I’ve grown, I’ve learned that there is so much power in who you know. Make connections, follow-up, stay in touch, and leverage those relationships as often as possible.
